Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa believes the upcoming two-week break will provide his side with much-needed rest, as the players have been fatigued from their recent demanding schedule.
The Kitwe side extended their six-point lead at the top of the league table following a 2-0 victory over Mutondo Stars in their midweek fixture at Arthur Davies Stadium.
With 54 points from 28 matches, Power Dynamos remain at the top of the league. Their recent form has been impressive, as they have won six consecutive matches. So far this season, they have secured 16 wins, 6 draws, and suffered 6 losses.
In an interview, Mutapa emphasized that the team has been experiencing fatigue and that the break will allow his players to recharge before resuming their league campaign.
“These games have been coming in quick and fast; maybe we try and get some players to rest; there was a bit of fatigue and this break gives us a chance to give some players some rest,” said Mutapa.
‘We are able to show the consistency‘ – Mutapa
The Power Dynamos gaffer further said that his team will not drop momentum because anything can happen in the remaining six games.
“We are in top position, but six games is 18 points. In football, anything can happen but I think if we are able to show the consistency that we have shown in the previous eight games, take each game as a final. This is a team that is able to create chances; the plus is we are defending very well and keeping a clean sheet always gives a team confidence,” added Mutapa.
With just six games remaining in the season, Power Dynamos are determined to secure their 8th league title.
After the two-week break, the Kitwe giants will return to action against Zesco United as they look to maintain their push for the championship.
