Former Ivory Coast national team defender Kolo Toure has managed Wigan Athletic in the English Championship for five games, however, he is yet to record a victory since taking over as the team’s head coach.

The Latics were defeated at home by Hull City last weekend in a humiliating 1-4 loss making it their fourth straight loss in the Championship.

The former Leicester City assistant manager emphasized that despite the rough start at Wigan, he will never give up as he pursues his first victory since being hired.

“It is very frustrating. This result puts us in a tough place but we have got to keep going,” He explained.

“We just have to stick together and keep believing in ourselves. We need to keep working hard in training, and we will do everything we can to make things better.”

Toure admitted that he had expected to have a difficult start at Wigan, but he is positive that things would turn around and he can improve his club.

” I love the English Mentality. it’s a country where people give you a chance no matter where you come from as long as you do the job well. I have been working with one of the top managers, Brendan Rodgers, learning coaching,” He said

” Wigan is my opportunity, I knew it was going to be tough but I am a positive guy and I care about the club.”

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner’s team is currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship league after just managing one point in his five games as manager thus far.

Toure became the first African coach in football history to be appointed first-team manager of a senior English football club when he took over the Wigan coaching job.
