Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZaFCA) general secretary Lameck Banda says it is encouraging to see most Zambian coach attaining the CAF A diploma license.

The CAF A Diploma license is an advanced, four-phase coaching qualification required to lead professional teams.

The course also enables coaches to oversee elite academies in African football under the Confederation of African Football.

Recently, former Football Association of Zambia technical director Lyson Zulu, Power Dynamos assistant coach Songwe Chalwe, and former Zambia national football team defender Kebby Hachipuka became the latest Zambian coaches to attain the qualifications.

In an interview to Bolanews, Banda, a Mufulira Wanderers coach is impressed that most Zambian coaches are advancing their craft.

“This is what we want at ZaFCA, to see coaching advancing in terms of their credentials,” he said

He said CAF is driving the charge for professional coaching and Zambian coaches cannot afford to remain behind.

“This is where CAF is driving to, at any given level they want a coach who is at Pro or CAF A so this is a good move,” Banda said.

He called for holding of the coaching courses locally.

“The FA can help, we need to access these badges locally. Because it is too expensive to access these outside the country,” he said.
