England head coach Gareth Southgate remains confident to attain the Euro 2024 glory despite accepting that the condemnation of his side is mainly aimed at him.
The 2020 runners up opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory against Serbia, then drew 1-1 with Denmark, before playing out to a 0-0 stalemate against Slovenia.
Pundits rated England among the few favorite teams to go all the way to the finals of the tournament, but inconsistency in their performance has blocked them from advancing to the knockout stages as Group C winners.
However, the England boss believes it’s best to attack him than the players.
“100 percent. That is my Job. I have to keep the players right on track on the day of the game I showed them pictures of Italy celebrating their qualification with their fans, of hungary celebrating when they didn’t even know if they were through.
“I have to help the players as much as I possibly can because we brought the joy back into playing for England and we have to be very careful of where we head with it,”
“No, I won’t be backing away from anything, whatever the feeling is towards me, you have got to get behind the team and that’s crucial,” he said.
Southgate said the team needs to keep pushing till they get a better result.
“We need the whole team, am proud of what the players did, they showed the great mentality, they showed bravery in a difficult environment at times.
