Zanaco Ladies Football Club handed Green Buffaloes Women their first defeat of the 2025/26 ZPL Women Super League season with a commanding 4–0 victory at the REIZ Arena in Lusaka on Sunday.
Zanaco were ruthless from the opening exchanges and took the lead in the 17th minute through Sara Jere, who has returned from a lengthy ACL injury. Ruth Ngoma doubled the advantage at 33 minutes.
Victoria Miyanda added the third goal in the 71st minute, and Zangose Zulu sealed an emphatic win late on, scoring in the 88th minute.
The result ended Green Buffaloes’ unbeaten run but did little to dent their grip at the top of the table. The defending leaders remain first on 38 points after 15 matches.
Zesco Ndola Girls kept up the pressure in the title race with a convincing 5–0 win over ZISD FC at Lusaka’s Independence Stadium. Avell Chitundu struck twice in the 27th and 30th minutes before adding another in the 58th minute, while Thandiwe Ndlobvu and Charity Mubanga completed the rout.
Despite Zesco’s dominant performance, they remain second on the standings with 34 points, four adrift of Green Buffaloes.
Elsewhere in Week 15, Green Eagles Women and Red Arrows Women played out a 1–1 draw, while Nchanga Rangers Queens edged The Elite Ladies 3–0. Trident Queens were awarded a 3–0 win over Yasa Queens following a forfeit, and Luyando Foundation claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Amazing Grace FC. National Assembly Women and Chipata Girls shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
The league now heads into the next round with the title race intensifying at the summit and the relegation battle tightening at the bottom.
