In the lead-up to the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will take place in Morocco from July 5–26, head coach Hervé Happy of the DR Congo women’s team has highlighted the danger his team could face in a Group A match against Zambia.
DR Congo, hosts Morocco, Zambia, and Senegal are all in Group A. Happy, in an interview with CAF Media, called the group challenging.
The home fans would support Morocco, he said, adding that Senegal has been improving steadily on the continent.
Happy warned his players not to overlook the three sides, saying that Zambia is a hard team to contain when they play the Copper Queens.

“If a team qualifies for WAFCON, it means they’re good,” he stated.
“I take every opponent very seriously. Morocco will have home advantage, Zambia is always tough to handle, and Senegal is progressing rapidly. We’re preparing one match at a time, with discipline.”
Happy stressed the importance of mental and character strength in facing such strong opponents:
“First, discipline — in behaviour, both on and off the field. Second, humility — always. And third, strong character. You need a heart to turn situations around. We saw it with the men’s CAF Champions League — often it’s the drive that makes the difference.”
