Zambia’s Copper Queens have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Egypt, and debutants Malawi for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The WAFCON will feature 16 teams drawn into four groups for the group stage. The competition will kick off from 17 March to 3 April in Morocco, across three cities: Rabat, Casablanca, and Fez.

Group A is headlined by hosts Morocco, who will face Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya. With home advantage and strong regional rivals, this group is expected to be highly competitive from the opening matches, especially since Morocco reached the final at the 2024 edition, which they lost to Nigeria.

In Group B, 2022 champions South Africa have been drawn alongside the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.

Group D is led by Ghana, which will compete against Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde. With all four sides capable of challenging for progression, the group is expected to be evenly matched and unpredictable.

The semifinalists at this year’s tournament will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Brazil.
