2012 Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder Noah Chivuta has described Power Dynamos’ 1-0 away victory over Rivers United on Matchday Four of the CAF Champions League Group A as a crucial icebreaker that could define the club’s campaign.
The win, Power Dynamos’ first in the group, lifted the Zambian champions to four points and into third place, behind RS Berkane on seven points, while defending champions Pyramids FC lead the standings with 10 points.
Aba Yellow will next host RS Berkane this weekend in Ndola, a fixture Chivuta believes presents a major opportunity.
Speaking in an interview with BolaNews, Chivuta said winning away from home provides a massive psychological boost and can change a team’s belief.
“Winning away from home is a very, very big boost for the club and the confidence of the players. From that win, that’s where they can start believing that anything is possible when you work hard and plan well,” Chivuta said.
The former Chipolopolo midfielder stressed that the difference between home and away matches is often overstated.
“They must build momentum”- Chivuta.
“Hostility is the only factor when you are away. Once you are on the pitch, it’s 11 against 11. They’ve lost games at home before, so they can also win anywhere,” he noted.
Chivuta believes the timing of the Rivers United victory could not have been better, as Power prepares for their final two group matches against RS Berkane and Pyramids.

He urged the team to focus less on the league table and more on execution.
“They shouldn’t look too much at the table. They must concentrate on the coming games, believe in themselves, and see if they can get the six points. This win came at the right time. Sometimes you just need that first win— is an icebreaker—too see where you can end up,” he said.
He added that with home advantage in Ndola, familiar facilities and strong supporter backing, Power Dynamos must now build momentum by following the coaches’ plans and maintaining belief.
