Justina Mwila, a defender for Indeni Roses Football Club, says the team is targeting to lift their maiden league title this season as they look to build on last campaign’s improved performance.
Mwila, was among Indeni Roses’ consistent performers last season.
“I really want to do more than I did last season and remain consistent. But that comes with discipline, hard work, and remaining focused and pushing extremely hard, not giving up,” Mwila said.
At the team level, Mwila said Indeni Roses have set their sights on competing for the championship and winning as many matches as possible.
“Our target this season as a team is we really want to work more extremely hard than we did last season to compete for the title and win as many games as we can and remain consistent,” she said.
Mwila also spoke about her aspirations of earning a call-up to the Zambia national team, saying her immediate focus is on performing consistently for her club rather than rushing the process.
“I need to concentrate on what I’m doing here and not rush to be put upon the national team because, just like you said, God’s time is the best,” she said.
Her mother’s influence.
The defender credited her mother as her biggest source of support, saying her encouragement continues to motivate her to work harder.
She reflected on her time at Kabwe Celtic, where she served as captain and helped the club gain promotion to the Super League.
She said the experience taught her perseverance and gave her confidence after initially facing doubts when she joined Indeni Roses.
“They really taught me a lot from my parental team. They taught me not to give up, and they taught me to say, if other people can do it, you can also do it,” Mwila said.
Indeni Roses opened the 2026-27 campaign with a 2-0 win over Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles at Indeni Sports Complex on Saturday.
