Zambia Women’s National Team striker Racheal Kundananji has set a career-high goal-scoring tally in Spain.

Kundananji moved to Spain in 2021, leaving Kazakhstan side, Biik Kazygurt to join SD Eibar. She has been a thorn in the flesh of defenders ever since.

In her first season in the Primera División Femenina, she scored 8 goals in 21 appearances.

After SD Eibar was relegated from the top flight last season, Madrid CFF signed her in August and she continued her scoring form.

The 22-year-old, who began her career with Ndola-based club Indeni FC, has scored 19 league goals in 21 appearances this season.

Kundananji is toe-to-toe with five-time African female Footballer of the Year award winner Asisat Oshoala in the Spanish Women’s League. The Nigerian has scored 20 goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona this season.

The two are chasing top scorer, Alba Redondo of Spain, who sits at 24 goals in 24 appearances for Levante.

Meanwhile, after scoring her 19th league goal on Sunday against Real Madrid, Kundananji hit a career-high tally in Spain.

Her tally is the highest she has ever achieved since moving to Europe.

Kundananji will now look to replicate her form at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where she will participate for the first time with Zambia in July.

Zambia is in Group C alongside Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan. They will open their campaign on July 22, 2023, against Japan..
