Copper Queens forward Grace Chanda could leave Madrid CFF, sources close to the player have revealed exclusively to BolaNews.

The 26-year-old scored her first goal for club or country since June 2023 in Madrid CFF’s 6-1 Liga F victory over Valencia on Sunday. It was her first Madrid appearance since returning from an eight-month illness last month.

After recovering from the undisclosed illness that kept her out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Chanda was named to Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape’s 34-player squad for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers against Morocco.

Following her return, she only appeared for Madrid on the bench three times. It wasn’t until last Sunday when she finally played for nine minutes, during which she scored.

It has now been revealed that she could leave the club at the end of the season.

‘Major announcement expected in two weeks’- Source

BolaNews sources have disclosed that she is already in advanced talks with two Spanish clubs and one from the United Sates of America.

“She is in advanced talks with teams in Spain and the US. A major announcement expected in/or about two weeks,” the source revealed.

Chanda scored three goals in 11 starts out of 26 games for Madrid CFF before falling ill in her first season. This was after signing a two-year contract with the club in 2022 from BIIK Kazgurt.

Her contract expires in September of this year, and she could leave the club as a free agent; therefore, Madrid is unwilling to let her go for free and will accept the highest bid.

Meanwhile, the former Red Arrows forward made her last appearance for Zambia in a 2-0 win over Morocco. The win secured Zambia’s Olympic qualification last month.

Chanda, who came in second place for the 2022 CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year Award, which went to Bay FC and Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, is expected to make Mwape’s final Olympic squad.
