Zambia U-17 captain Mercy Chipasula is aiming to end the tournament on a high note after notching three Player of the Match awards at the ongoing 2024 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship.

The Copper Princesses have qualified for the final of the regional showpiece after beating Madagascar 3-0 in the semifinal and will face Lesotho, who silenced Mozambique 1-0 in the other match.

“I’m happy to win three player of the match awards, and it’s not because of my own effort but through the support from my teammates. I’m really happy,” Chipasula said.

“It is not easy, but we will work hard. We need to work together to win the match and retain the trophy back home.”

Chipasula said she needs to work hard to claim the player of the tournament award.

“I need to work so that I can win the player of the tournament award, but I can’t achieve this without teamwork. My performance will have to show on the pitch in the final,” Chipasula concluded.

The Copper Princesses are unbeaten, while Lesotho has lost once in the competition, a 2-0 defeat to Mozambique. Zambia and Lesotho will clash at 11:00 CAT in the Girls Championship final.
