Juarez football club reached the Liga MX Femenil play-off quarterfinals thanks to a goal by Mexico-based Copper Queens forward Prisca Chilufya.
On Matchday 17 of the season, Juarez faced fourth-place Club America, and they drew 1-1.
Despite ending the first round with 27 points, Juarez finished ahead of Toluca on the league table on goal difference.
Chilufya gave her team the lead in the 51st minute with a strong shot at the near post, her fifth goal of the year. However, Juarez allowed Club America to equalize in the 67th minute through Kiana Palacios.
The 24-year-old striker took to her official Facebook page to express delight with her performance on the night.
“We gave our best and managed to walk away with a point. Grateful to Almighty for the goal; it was strong enough to help our team go through to the quarterfinals for the title.”
She has chipped in five goals and three assists in nine league matches. The team will now shift their attention to the championship round set to start this week.
