Nkana Supporters national chairman Emmanuel Zulu has backed the club’s decision to reshuffle the technical bench in changes that have seen Mwenya Chipepo and Christopher Katongo placed on administrative leave.
On Monday, Nkana announced some sweeping changes to their technical bench following a run of three losses in the Super League, something that has left them only four points above the relegation zone.
The changes saw Chipepo and his trusted assistant, Katongo, placed on ice, while Elijah Tana has been elevated to act as interim coach for the unspecified time that the duo will be away.
Zulu, who heads the club’s official supporters group, welcomed the changes and asked the fans to back the team even when it is at its lowest.
He told Bolanews in an interview that the executive has the full backing of the fans.
“The Nkana Football Supporters Club fully supports the decision taken by Nkana Football Club management regarding the recent technical bench adjustments,” Zulu said, adding that placing Chipepo and Katongo on administrative leave with full pay “demonstrates professionalism, fairness, and respect for due process.”
He said, given Nkana’s proud history and strong responsibility to its supporters, sponsors, and stakeholders, strategic adjustments are necessary to safeguard stability and performance.
Meanwhile, Zulu called on the fans to back Tana.
“The appointment of Elijah Tana as interim head coach, supported by Josephat Nkhoma, Donashano Malama, and the retained expertise of Michael Poto, ensures continuity within the technical setup.
“As stakeholders and supporters, it is important that we rally behind the club during this period and give the interim technical bench the full backing they deserve,” he said.
