Zambian Women’s National Team forward Prisca Chilufya will join Barbra Banda, Grace Chanda, and Racheal Kundananji in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), BolaNews has learnt.
The 25-year-old has already bid farewell to her Mexican club, FC Juárez, and will be unveiled by Orlando Pride today.
FC Juárez has also confirmed the Zambian forward’s departure from the club, describing it as a historic transfer.
Jesús Mesta, FC Juárez Femenil sports director, announced that the player will join an NWSL team.
“There has been an offer from a team in the United States for Prisca and the decision has been made to take this option and Prisca will become a player for a team in the National Women’s Soccer League. We are very proud of Prisca, the entire women’s team, and Óscar,” confirmed Mesta.
Chilufya’s message to FC Juárez
In her farewell message to the Mexican club, Chilufya said, “I want to take this opportunity to thank the city, the club, the coaching staff, and the players. They have meant a lot to me, not only as friends but as my family. The city has been like my home; the club has been like my family.
“I am very happy to have been a part of this and to take this beautiful city with me wherever I go. This is my home, and whenever I think of my home, I will think of Juárez. Whenever I think of my family, I will think of the club and the people I have met.”
Chilufya joined FC Juárez in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key member of the team. She totalled 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
She will replace Brazilian forward Adriana, who has been transferred to Al Qadsiah FC of Saudi Arabia’s Women’s Premier League for a club-record $500,000 fee.
Chilufya joins the Pride as the third Zambian, after Banda and Chanda. She is expected to participate in the club’s preseason.
