Mighty Wanderers Football Club and Mukuru, an international money transfer service, have ended their three-year partnership.

In a statement issued on Thursday morning, the club’s board secretary, Chancy Gondwe, stated the two had mutually agreed not to continue their collaboration.

The statement reads: “The parties hereby announce that they have mutually agreed not to renew the sponsorship agreement between Mighty Wanderers Football Club and Mukuru.

“Mighty Wanderers expresses gratitude for the fruitful partnership and will always cherish the positive experiences shared during this collaboration.”

Mukuru began sponsoring Wanderers in June 2022, and part of the sponsorship agreement included naming rights, prompting the side to alter its name from Mighty Wanderers to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

In the first year, Mukuru invested K175 million (around $100,000). Mukuru bankrolled K350 million for two years beginning in April 2023 and ending this year.
