Tanzania forward Offen Chikola says his side is determined to claim victory against Zambia as they push for a place in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs.

With Morocco already through from Group E on 21 points, Tanzania sits second with 10 points, just ahead of Niger on nine, while Zambia trails in fourth with six. The Taifa Stars need a win in Wednesday’s tie at the New Amani Stadium in Zanzibar to strengthen their hopes of advancing.

Chikola, who plies his trade for Young Africans SC, expressed his pride after being called up to the national team camp at Gymkhana Stadium.

“I was very excited but first of all I thanked God because it is a great achievement in my football life to be on the national team,” Chikola told the Tanzania Football Federation media. “As a player, when you perform well for your club, you are recognized in your country. This is my dream and I am very proud.”

The 27-year-old acknowledged the challenge of facing Zambia but insisted Tanzania are ready for the task.

“This will be difficult because Zambia is a big country with a strong team. But we are preparing well under our coaches. We will fight for our nation and for our fans,” he added. “I call on all Tanzanians to come out in large numbers on match day to support us. We rely on their energy, and together we can achieve victory.”
