Real Madrid will look to win their fifth Club World Cup title by winning their next two games in Morocco, with Egyptian side Al Ahly serving as their first challenge in the semi-finals tonight.
Al Ahly will play in the tournament’s semi-finals for the third year in a row, hoping to surprise the European heavyweights after defeating Auckland City 3-0 and the Seattle Sounders 0-1.
Marcel Koller’s side, who are six points clear at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table, have now won 23 consecutive games in all competitions, including victories in their last five.
The African champions will be inspired by El Shahat, Mohammed Sherif, and Percy Tau in the attack.
Despite being the underdogs in this game, Al Ahly cannot be underestimated due to their impressive unbeaten record this season.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos who will be meeting Ah Ahly for the first time, are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Mallorca. They are now eight points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race.
Madrid have won all four of their previous finals despite not being at their best in terms of form.
Due to injuries, Carol Ancelotti will be without Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, Ferland Mendy, and Eden Hazard. Madrid will, however, bank on Luka Modric and Toni Kroos to dominate the midfield.
Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo lead the line, and in Courtois’ absence, Andriy Lunin will fill in between the posts.
The winner tonight will face Al-Hilal in the final on Saturday. The Saudi Arabian side defeated Flamengo 3-2 to book a spot in the final.
