Chelsea completed their set of all three major UEFA trophies by lifting the UEFA Conference League title with a 4–1 comeback win against Real Betis in the final in Wrocław. The victory marks the club’s ninth European trophy, making them the second-most decorated English club in European competitions, behind only Liverpool (13).

Despite being heavy favourites throughout the tournament and resting many of their stars in earlier rounds, Chelsea were initially second-best in the final. Real Betis, seeking their first continental silverware, took a deserved lead in the 10th minute through a composed finish by former Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli. They dominated the first half and held their advantage into the break.

However, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca made decisive substitutions at halftime, introducing Reece James, followed by Jadon Sancho and Levi Colwill. The changes sparked a momentum shift, allowing Chelsea to seize control of the game.

Cole Palmer played a pivotal role in turning the tide, delivering two crucial assists in quick succession midway through the second half. His first cross was met by Enzo Fernández for the equaliser, and moments later, a second delivery deflected off Nicolas Jackson and into the net to put Chelsea ahead.

Sancho extended the lead late on, curling in a powerful strike as Betis began to tire. Moisés Caicedo added a fourth in stoppage time to seal a comprehensive comeback.

Though Jackson missed a golden chance to score a second, the result was never in doubt by that stage. The win completes Chelsea’s collection of the Champions League, Europa League, and now the Conference League titles—a feat achieved by only a few elite clubs.

We are building something important— Maresca

Speaking after the game, Maresca said he was “Very happy, very happy to be honest epescially for the fans. I completely understand after 2-3 years where for different reasons we struggled, it’s important that we achieve two important targets, champions league spot and tonight we won a trophy. ‬”

The Italian trainer also told TNT Sport that he hopes this is the beginning of more titles to come for the Blues.

“The club invest lots of money in the last three or four years, so they are also waiting for results,” Maresca told TNT Sports.

“Hopefully this can be a starting point and from tonight, from this season, (we are) building something important.”

Chelsea next assignment is the FIFA Club World Cup set to kick off in August in the United States of America with Maresca confirming that the team will have ten days rest before resuming preparations for the tournament.
