Manchester United neck-on-neck with Liverpool

To guarantee Champions League football at Old Trafford for the upcoming season, the Red Devils only require one point from their final two matches against Chelsea and Fulham.

Manchester United defeated Bournemouth by a razor-thin margin in the Premier League thanks to an overhead kick from Casemiro.

He picked up a beautifully weighted pass from Christian Eriksen and turned away from Marcos Senesi to acrobatically hammer home.

Without Marcus Rashford, who was absent from the squad with illness and missed the opportunity to equal his best tally of 17 goals in a single campaign, United struggled to mount regular goal threats.

Casemiro’s goal in the ninth minute, along with Liverpool’s draw against Aston Villa, was sufficient for Manchester United to move one point closer to securing a top-four berth.

United a point away from top four finish

It appeared that United’s victory against Villa was sufficient to secure Erik ten Hag’s squad a place in the Champions League for the upcoming season.

However, a late equalizer by Roberto Firmino for Liverpool against Aston Villa at Anfield meant that United will now have to wait until Thursday at the earliest to guarantee a return Champions league football after a season-long absence.

The Red Devils only require one point from their final two matches against Chelsea and Fulham, to guarantee Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.

It is an incredible accomplishment for the Dutch manager’s first season in the Premier League to have won the Carabao Cup, be ready to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on June 3, and be on the verge of securing a top-four spot.
