Zambian international Patson Daka suffered an ankle injury during Leicester City’s final pre-season friendly against Lens, a 3-0 loss in August, and has been sidelined since following surgery.
Leicester City announced earlier this month that the 26-year-old had begun light training after his successful surgery.
Ahead of this Saturday’s round eight English Premier League game against Southampton, Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that the former Power Dynamos striker is still working towards his return, despite being back on the grass, adding that he is under the medical team’s watchful eye.
“He’s definitely making good progress,” Cooper explained via the club’s media. “It was quite a serious injury and he had an operation. It was an unfortunate time as well, coming just before the season was about to start. He’s not far off the final stages of his rehab.
“He’s on the grass a little bit, very much with the medical team, and building towards being closer to being back with us. His rehab is on course and going to plan. It was quite a serious injury which he needed a bit of time to recover from so he’s still in that process.”
Daka had 7 goals and 5 assists in 20 Championship games last season, helping the Foxes to promotion to the Premier League.
He will be hoping to begin his season in the Premier League soon with his City team, which has only one league win, three losses, and three draws.
Daka has nine goals and seven assists in 53 games over his previous two seasons with the Foxes in the English Premier League.
