Since his return to Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard has continued to be on a losing streak, as Brentford battered his side 0-2 to secure a massive away victory.

Cesar Azpilicueta’s own goal in the first half and a second-half strike from Bryan Mbeumo ensured Chelsea’s winless run under Lampard continued.

The Blues now risk finishing outside the top 10 for the first time since 1996 having lost five matches consecutively.

Meanwhile, Lampard admitted that Chelsea fans had every right to boo his team after the defeat on Wednesday night.

“Absolutely, the fans are going to be worried. If you’re a Chelsea fan, you’ve been used to 20 years of success…. You’re used to it and you want it more. I have got no problem with fans booing. I’m not sitting here to go against the fans and say don’t boo the players,” Lampard said after the match.

He went on to say that he felt sorry for the players.

“I will defend the players because they are young lads who want to do well. Is there an issue with confidence? Yes. Is there an issue with the balance of the squad? Maybe yes,” he said

The Blues have failed to score in six of their last seven games and are currently in 11th place in the Premier League standings.

Chelsea is winless since March 11 when they defeated Leicester City 1-3, and now on an eight-game winless run.
