Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, was left stunned following his team’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
It was Newcastle’s second defeat in a role after losing to Manchester City in matchday two of the English Premier League.
The Magpies just nine minutes from their first EPL win against Liverpool until substitute Darwin Nunez found the back of the net twice within that period for a remarkable comeback.
In his post-match conference, Eddie Howe said it was a pain defeat considering how close his side was.
“My role in this now is to calm everything down and try to see perspective. Results will always sway opinions, but from the first two games we’ve had, we’ve been very close to more points, we’ve been very competitive and there have been some really good signs,” he said, via INDEPENDENT (UK).
“This was a Super Special Performance,”-Klopp.
For his counterpart Jurgen Klopp, he described his team’s performance as ‘Super Special’ and hailed the team’s performance despite been a man down for the longest part of the game.
“I think in my 1,000 games as a coach or a manager I never had a game like this, that’s the truth. Not that we never turned games [around], we did that, but 10 men in an atmosphere like this against an opponent like this – it’s not that I can’t remember, these moments are rare and super-special,” he said.
