Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka at the weekend hit a milestone, becoming a centurion for his club Leicester City after making his 100th appearance in competitive matches for the former Premier League champions.
Daka joined Leicester in 2021 from Austrian giants RB Salzburg. When he joined, he was tipped as the long term successor for club legend Jamie Vardy. However, it has been rough going for the former Power Dynamos hitman.
Injuries, lack of game time and the constant changing of managers have slowed Daka’s progress at Leicester. There was however something to smile about for the weekend.
On Sunday, he made is 100th competitive appearance in a Leicester shirt when he came on as a substitute for Bilal El Khannouss in the club’s 2 – all draw against Enock Mwepu’s former club Brighton.
The 100th cap comes 1,218 days after he made his debut in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium in London.
Of the 100 games, 57 have been in the Premier League where he has scored 10 goals, 20 have been in the Championship with seven goals along the way while five have been in the FA Cup.
Daka has played seven matches in the EFL Cup, one in the Community Shield and 10 in Europe where he is the club’s all-time top scorer with six goals.
