Zambian striker Patson Daka believes the upcoming international break will provide Leicester City with the opportunity to regroup and return stronger in their fight to avoid relegation from the English Premier League.

The Foxes have had a difficult run, losing their last five matches without scoring a single goal. Their most recent setback was a 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United, marking Leicester’s 20th loss of the season. With just four wins and five draws, they have accumulated 17 points and sit 19th in the table after 29 matches.

Leicester’s defense has been porous, conceding 65 goals—second only to Southampton, who have allowed 70. Their attack has also struggled, with only 25 goals scored, second worst in the league behind the Saints’ 21.

With the international break approaching, Daka sees it as a chance to strategize and come back stronger for the final nine fixtures of the season.

Daka, who played 64 minutes in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United, acknowledged that the season has been tough for the Foxes. However, he believes that once the team scores a goal, which has been elusive, their confidence will be restored.

“It seems nothing is really working, but we have to keep working and continue believing that things will change. We need to utilise this break and make sure we come back fresh,” Daka told the club’s media.

“We just have to do everything that we can to just get that first goal. I think that’s what we are lacking: just getting the ball behind the net. That will change everything. We continue to believe and lift each other up. We know that it’s not yet over until it’s over. We still have games to play, and we will keep fighting until the last game.”

Meanwhile, van Nistelrooy also expressed disappointment with the team’s failure to utilize the chances created against Manchester United.

“I think the efficiency in finishing chances and defending key moments was the difference [against Manchester United],” he stated.

Leicester City’s next match will be on April 2 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
