LENS, FRANCE - AUGUST 10: Patson Daka of Leicester City receives treatment before going off injured during the Pre-Season friendly match between RC Lens and Leicester City at Stade Félix Bollaert-Delélis on August 10, 2024 in Lens. (Photo by Plumb Images/Leicester City FC via Getty Images)

Patson Daka limped off the pitch due to an injury he sustained in Leicester City’s final preseason friendly against Lens, a 3-0 loss on Saturday.

He only lasted 35 minutes on the pitch after Lens defender Kevin Danso collided with his leg, and required assistance to get off the pitch.

With Jamie Vardy sidelined due to injury, the Zambian striker led City’s attack in all five of their last preseason friendlies.

“Patson we’ll have to see, obviously, he didn’t look good the way he came off and he is currently in a boot, but the next day or so will tell us the extent [of his injury],” Leicester City’s coach Cooper said after the match.

Given that Daka and Vardy are now sidelined due to injury, Cooper stated that the team will need to bring in new strikers before their Premier League opener.

“[Jamie] Vardy is still not with us and is not with the group training. So that’s gonna be a while as well. So you know, that doesn’t help because they’re sort of three more experienced players as, as well. But you know, I’m not one for crying about that. Pushing obviously to try and get sign-ins in and, and hopefully you know, that’s, that’s the case.”

Leicester City will open their 2024-25 Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur on August 19, 2024, at the Kingspower Stadium.

They are returning to the Premier League after being promoted last season after winning the Championship under Enzo Maresca, who is now the head coach of Chelsea FC.
