Patson Daka finally got his club season up and running by registering a goal and assisting in Leicester City’s resounding 4-0 victory over Plymouth on Saturday.
A masterclass in his first EFL Championship start this season has received a plethora of congratulatory messages from notable figures across the football world.
Following a stunning long ball from Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu guided the ball into the path of Daka. The Zambian marksman then buried the ball into the bottom corner, wrong-footing the opposition shot-stopper.
Fatawu, who assisted the goal, wrote under Daka’s Instagram post, “I told you that I will assist you bro and did it
Daka and Fatawu were both previous winners of the U-20 AFCON Best Player Award during the 2017 and 2021 editions, respectively.
Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who scored from a Daka assist, exclaimed, “Patoski” as did veteran striker Jamie Vardy. This seems to be a reference to one of the world’s deadliest strikers, FC Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski.
Daka’s Chipolopolo teammates also joined the party, with Fashion Sakala commenting, “Congrats bro
Serbian-based midfield orchestrator Kings Kangwa and FC MUZA star Conlyde Luchanga also dropped hearty messages for the Leicester City man.
Former Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga, who now plies his trade at Nottingham Forest, commented, “When God says yes… .”
The Zambian centre forward demonstrated that his finishing abilities transcend beyond the pitch as he completed Elanga’s quote with “No one can say no.”
Daka promised the Leicester City faithful that there are more goals to come this season as he eyes another starting berth in the midweek game against Millwall.
