Zambian-born Swedish striker Jack Kalichi Lahne has received a late call-up to the Zambia national team ahead of the international friendly matches against South Africa and Burundi on November 14 and 18.

BolaNews sources have confirmed that the 24-year-old will link up with the squad in South Africa after initially being omitted from the provisional list announced on Sunday.

Lahne, who was first unearthed by the Chipolopolo Die Hards, was born to Zambian parents but was adopted by a Swedish couple after his mother passed away when he was very young.

“I was adopted at a very young age and I last visited Zambia when I was 14,” he told BolaNews in an interview in March 2024. “I have family in Chikankata…. And I speak to my aunt here and there and I really want to reunite with them.”

The versatile forward, who can also operate as a winger, has represented Sweden at U17 and U19 levels but remains eligible to play for Zambia, having never featured for the Swedish senior team.

Zambia’s newly appointed head coach, Moses Sichone, has been in contact with Lahne and expressed interest in including him for the two back-to-back friendlies as part of preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The former Häcken attacker described the opportunity to represent Zambia as a special honour.

“To play for the country I was born in is something I really want to do. It would be so nice to return to Zambia and give back to the country in which I was born in a different way,” he said.

Jack’s career at 24

After enduring several loan spells and recovering from a long-term injury, Lahne rejoined his parent club, Amiens SC, in 2023.

He first joined Amiens on loan in January 2019 until the end of the Ligue 1 season before signing permanently. In November 2019, he made his debut and scored his first Ligue 1 goal against Montpellier.

Lahne later spent loan stints with Swedish clubs Örebro SK and Häcken, Hungarian side Újpest, and Norwegian First Division outfit Start in 2023.

At the start of 2025, Lahne joined SC Austria Lustenau on a contract running until the summer of 2026. He has since played 27 matches for the club, scoring eight goals.

This season, Lahne has made 13 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga 2. He has netted five times, including a brace against Sturm II.

BolaNews understands that Lahne is now awaiting final clearance from his club before travelling to join the Chipolopolo squad in South Africa.
