Highest scoring Zambian players in the 2025-26 club season

From Scotland to Saudi Arabia, Zambian stars lit up the 2025-26 season with goals, as Chanka Zimba emerged as the country’s top-scoring player in club football.

The business end of the season is upon us and it is inevitable that we extol the stars that have ignited the campaign through moments of brilliance, particularly in front of goal. Several Zambian players turned up in the 2025-26 season, punishing opposition goalkeepers with their goalscoring exploits.

As we draw the curtains on the 2025-26 campaign, BolaNews reveals the list of Zambian players with the most goals scored in club football this term.

6. Kings Kangwa (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel) – 10 goals

Kings Kangwa has been firing on all cylinders for Hapoel Be’er Sheva this season, tormenting defences with his creativity and goalscoring ability. The midfielder has been integral to Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s pursuit of the Israeli Premier League title, which they narrowly fell short of last season.

Returning ten goals and six assists in 34 matches across all club competitions in 2025-26, Kangwa has reached double digits in goals in both of his first two campaigns in Israel. Having already hoisted the Israeli Cup and Super Cup trophies with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Kangwa has all eyes on the Premier League title and subsequent UEFA Champions League qualification.

Other Zambian players on ten goals include Eliya Mandanji, whose impressive scoring numbers earned him trials in Denmark and Benjamin Chisala, who had an electric start to life in Estonia with Nomme United.

5. Fashion Sakala (Al Fayha, Saudi Arabia) – 11 goals

Playfully dubbed ‘Sheikh Sakala’ for his incredible performances for Al Fayha in Saudi Arabia, Fashion Sakala Jr. has tallied 11 goals in all competitions this campaign. An underwhelming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) outing appears to have sparked the winger’s top form, with most of his goals coming since the turn of the year.

Three years into his time at Al Fayha, Sakala is already the club’s all time topscorer and a fan favorite. With his contract running out this summer, a number of clubs in Europe and beyond will be eager to secure the services of the former Rangers FC attacker.

4. Kingstone Mutandwa (SV Ried, Austria) – 13 goals

A loan move from Italian side Cagliari Calcio to Austria at the beginning of the season gave Mutandwa the license to spread his wings and fly. The Atletico Lusaka FC product has been unplayable for SV Ried in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as not only a prolific goal scorer but a decisive one too.

His 13 strikes, all coming in the league, have placed him in the conversation for the 2025-26 Austria Bundesliga Golden Boot. He is looking to become the first Zambian player since Patson Daka in 2020-21 to claim that accolade.

Cagliari are surely keeping tabs on the 23 year old, who is contracted with the Serie A club until 2028.

3. Kenneth Kalunga (ASTA Mingachevir, Azerbaijan) – 14 goals

For the first time in nearly a decade Kalunga traded life in the lower tiers of Portugal for a move to Azerbaijan. The former Zambia U20 international has settled well in Azerbaijan, scoring 14 goals in his debut season with ASTA Mingachevir in the 1. Liga.

The striker has scored in his last six matches, spearheading ASTA Mingachevir’s push for topflight promotion. At 14 goals and six assists in 24 matches across all competitions, Kalunga is enjoying one of the best goalscoring seasons of his career.

2. Albert Kangwanda (Red Arrows, Zambia) – 15 goals

After his moves to Sudan and Moldova were dented by war and poor form, respectively, Kangwanda returned to Red Arrows FC last year and has set Zambian football alight. His 12 goals in the FAZ MTN Zambian Super League are only second to Kenyan striker Moses Shumah’s 21.

Kangwanda also leads the scoring charts in the 2026 ABSA Cup with three goals, inspiring Red Arrows FC to their third successive final. He rightfully earned a national team call up for Zambia’s historic friendly vs. Argentina, starting against the world champions.

1. Chanka Zimba (Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Scotland) – 19 goals

Not so long ago, Zimba was struggling for fitness and form in the sixth tier of English football on the books of Marine FC. At the start of the current campaign, he left Marine FC to sign for Scottish League One outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle and the rest was history.

Zimba has scored 19 goals in all competitions in 2025-26, more than any other Zambian player. Inverness Caledonian Thistle are on the brink of promotion to the Scottish Championship, thanks in part to Zimba’s 11 league goals and three assists.

The Zambian forward also scored an astonishing seven goals in five starts in the Challenge Cup, leading his club to a final, which they lost to Raith Rovers. The biggest highlight of his season came in March, when he made his Chipolopolo debut against Lionel Messi’s Argentina in Buenos Aires.
