The international window came to a close, and players have returned to their respective clubs. Here is a roundup of some of the Zambian players who were in action last week for their various clubs:

Fashion Sakala—Al Fayha

It was a terrible outing for the Al Fayha on matchday three in the Saudi Pro League as they suffered a 5-0 thrashing to Al-Raed at home. They have now lost all three of their league matches this season.

Sakala played 90 minutes, recording three shots on target but none were successful. The Zambian is still in search of his second goal of the season.

The 27-year-old has featured in all matches so far in the season.

Kings Kangwa—Hapoel Beer Sheva

Straight from scoring Zambia’s decisive goal in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sierra Leone last week, the 25-year-old played 78 minutes for his Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Beer-Sheva and had his goal ruled out in the first half by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Kangwa recorded three shots in 78 minutes. The attacker was playing his third match as he continued seeking his first goal in the Israeli Premier League.

Kingstone Mutandwa-Cagliari

The Zambian striker and his Cagliari teammates endured a humiliating 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Serie A log leaders Napoli.

Mutandwa was a second-half substitute, replacing Gianluca Gaetano in the 59th minute.

The striker had three attempts in his 31-minute runout for Cagliari, who are still searching for their first win of the season.

Miguel Chaiwa–Young Boys

The Zambian midfielder was introduced in the second half to play the last 32 minutes after being involved in the Chipolopolo first two AFCON qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.

The 24-year-old has so far made six appearances for the Young Boys side, which progressed to the third round of the Swiss Cup.

Joseph Sabobo Banda–FC Zurich

Banda recently made his debut for the Zambia senior team as they beat Sierra Leone 3-2 in the AFCON Qualifiers and was given a runout by his FC Zurich manager in the Swiss Cup.

The 18-year-old played the last 18 minutes of the matches as the away side cruised to a 3-0 win against Le Locle Sports on Saturday.

Edward Chilufya – Midtjylland

Chilufya limped off in Zambia’s Africa Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast and subsequently missed out on match day two of the qualifiers.

He returned to action for his Danish Superliga club Midtjylland, where he played 27 minutes in their 2-1 win over Copenhagen FC.

Chilufya came in the 63rd minute to replace striker Jan Kuchta, to mark his 7th appearance of the season in which he has three assists and one goal.

Evans Kangwa – Qindao Hainiu

The 30-year-old striker played 89 minutes for Chinese Super League side Qindao Hainiu, who played out to a 1-1 draw against Wuhan Three Towns.

Kangwa found the back of the net from a spot kick to put his side in the lead after 32 minutes, with the visiting team equalising in the 77th minute through Tao Qianglong.

With 22 matches played, Kangwa grabbed his fourth goal of the season with seven assists.

Golden Mafwenta – Metalist 1925

The defender was the first Zambian to be in action for his club as he made his debut for the Persha Liga side Metalist 1925, who recorded a 2-1 away win over Metalurh.

Mafwenta played the first 60 minutes before he was rested for Ihor Kohut.

Metalist 1925 are competing in Group B of the top-tier Ukrainian League.

In the CAF Champions League, Clatous Chama was an unused substitute for Young Africans, who beat Ethiopia’s CBE SA FC, while Joshua Mutale played 60 minutes for Simba SC, who recorded a 0-0 draw against Al Ahli Tripoli.
