Zambian winger Edward Chilufya delivered a sensational performance on Sunday night, scoring twice in FC Midtjylland’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Randers FC in their final Danish Superliga match of the season.
Coming off the bench, Chilufya made an immediate impact, netting the equalizer just 10 minutes after his introduction. With the match nearing its conclusion, he struck again — this time latching onto a deep pass from Oliver Sørensen, rounding goalkeeper Paul Izzo, and calmly slotting the ball into an empty net to seal the win.
Despite Chilufya’s heroics, the result wasn’t enough for Midtjylland to clinch the title. They finished second in the league with 62 points, narrowly edged out by FC Copenhagen, who were crowned champions by a single point on the same night.
Chilufya’s season was full of highs and lows having suffered injuries that kept him out of action for sometime and also getting less playing time. However, he still managed to score three goals and five assists in 20 league games of which he only started five times. The 25-year-old also scored a goal each in the UEFA Champions League qualifying round, Europa League and Oddset Pokalen cup.
Meanwhile, Midtjylland will now turn their focus to European competition, as they head into the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying rounds next season.
