Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant is soon expected to name his provisional squad for this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.

Mwila last turned up for Chipolopolo when he was an unused substitute in the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Equatorial Guinea at National Heroes Stadium.

Recently, the 29-year-old has been showing flashes of his former self, scoring a hat-trick against Konkola Blades on October 21 before finding the back of the net in the 1–0 win over Zesco United at the weekend.

Mwila said in an interview that he is working hard in training.

“As strikers, we play to score goals. When you are playing football as a striker, the main target is to be scoring goals so it is something that I have been pushing for,” Mwila said.

Mwila comments on his Chipolopolo prospects

Quizzed on his Chipolopolo prospects, Mwila said it is something that he is aiming for.

“It is something that I have been praying for because, [as a player] representing your country on an international level is something that we all hope for,” he responded. “I would love to be part of the squad that is taking part in the qualifying games and the AfCON.”

Mwila said his main aim at the moment is to regain the form that he has been known for.

“I am happy and I am looking forward to my form so that I can be considered as the Brian that people used to know,” Mwila said.

On his day, Mwila is unplayable and has a knack for scoring beautiful goals.

Mwila last scored for Zambia in a 2-all draw against Cameroon during the 2018 World Cup qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on November 11.
