Chipolopolo players are beaming with confidence ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) slated for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda next month.

The team has continued to prepare for the tournament which they have been placed in Group A alongside familiar foes Morocco, The DRC, Kenya and Angola.

Midfielder Prince Mumba spoke to reporters and said preparations are progressing well.

“So far, so good. We are getting in shape and getting better every day. Our chances are very high we are not pushovers. We are in a good group, and we are capable of delivering at the CHAN,” Mumba said.

He said the team will take the competition as it comes.

“The most important thing and we will try to go there and compete so that we prepare and set standards for the bigger competition in December. For me, this will be my first time competing at the CHAN, and it’s a good feeling. I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

And defender Kabaso Chongo echoed Mumba’s comments.

“This year, we just have to believe in ourselves. We can only perform well if we believe in ourselves. Sometimes, what causes teams not to perform well is lack of belief.

“Preparations are progressing well. Everyone is working hard, following what the coach is saying, and being serious so that we can go and play well at the CHAN,” the Zesco United defender said.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kelvin Kampamba said the players are picking up fitness.

“We have just started our preparations. As you know, we are in pre-season at our clubs, and we are working hard. With the coming of Jimmy Lawrence, we know how the guy wants us to push, and we are hoping that we will get there in terms of fitness levels so that we can start well at the CHAN.
