Vipers SC Head Coach Ivan Minnaert says their upcoming match against Power Dynamos will be tough, but the team that will prepare adequately will emerge victorious.

Vipers will face Power Dynamos in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, with the first leg set for 18th October in Uganda and the return leg slated for 25th October 2025.

The Ugandan outfit defeated Namibian side African Stars 1–0 both home and away to secure a spot in the second round of the CAF Champions League. They will now look to stop a Power Dynamos side that eliminated Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas, winning 1–0 at home before triumphing 5–4 on penalties away after a 1–0 loss in regulation time.

Minnaert admitted that the upcoming fixtures will be a 50/50 affair.

“We both have almost the same chances. I think it’s just 50/50 — everything can be resolved by details. In the end, it will be two nice games to play, and yes, it can fall on one side or the other. It will not be easy for either of the football teams,” he told ZNBC’s Radio Sports program.

“I think we are two strong teams — Power Dynamos in Zambia and Vipers in Uganda. The competitions are more or less the same. For each side, it will really be a tough game, and yes, we need to fight for us to progress,” he added.

The Belgian tactician revealed that the team has information about their opponents.

“Yes, of course, we have gotten information about Power Dynamos. We don’t forget they were also in Rwanda about two months ago, so we are following up. Now we are going to intensify the work to get a positive result.”

“We are going to do everything to win. Like I said in the beginning, some details are going to decide who will progress or who will not. But for the moment, it’s 50/50. We are professionals, and Power Dynamos are also professionals, so we are looking at who will find the best solution to win,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the winner over both legs will advance to the group stages of the competition.
