Silver Strikers, the league leaders, will play Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in a Malawian Super League title deciding match.
With three league games left, Silver Strikers, the Bankers, lead with 61 points, while Wanderers are in second place with 54 points after 27 games.
Wanderers will be eliminated from the league race if Silver Strikers win. Strikers’ league title will be delayed if Wanderers win.
In the event that the two teams draw, the league would be decided the other day.
The first round meeting in Lilongwe ended 2-0 to Silver. But Strikers’ coach Peter Mponda thinks the league is over.
“There is no way Wanderers will win the league. There have no experience in winning the league so we are not intimidated with them sitting second,” he said.
They will play every game and see where they end up, according to Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira.
Silver has won the league nine times, Wanderers six times, and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, the reigning winners, have won it seventeen times.
Bullets, led by head coach Kalisto Pasuwa, have lost this season. With 46 points from the same number of games, they are in third place.
