Morocco dominated the 2025 CAF Awards on Wednesday, as Achraf Hakimi and Ghizlane Chebbak were named Men’s and Women’s Footballers of the Year in Rabat.

Hakimi, who won the treble with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and led Morocco to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an unbeaten record, beat Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to win the prestigious award for the first time. He also became the first Moroccan to win it since 1998, when great attacker Mustapha Hadji did.

Chebbak, on the other hand, made history as the first Moroccan woman to win the award, beating fellow Moroccan Saana Mssoudy and Nigerian Rasheedat Ajibade. The 35-year-old won the Golden Boot at this year’s WAFCON.

Morocco’s dominance at the awards this year saw them win four more.
