The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has fined FCB Nyasa Big Bullets over US$3,700 for fans misconduct behaviour that occurred at Kamuzu Stadium when Bullets hosted Blue Eagles in a TNM Super League match.

On July 27, a Bullets fan invaded the pitch and stole a towel belonging to Eagles goalkeeper Joshua Waka, dodging security officials.

The incident happened when the match was at 0-0, and the fan acted on juju beliefs—thinking that the towel had magical powers to stop Bullets from scoring.

However, Eagles scored minutes later, and the match ended in favor of the visitors.

On August 6, SULOM Disciplinary Committee charged Bullets with a case of misconduct following that incident.

Bullets will pay MK5.7 million, around 80,000 Zambian kwacha. The money has to be paid before August 23.

Bullets chief executive officer Albert Chigoga said it is disappointing that the club will part ways with that huge sum of money just because of what one supporter did.

“But, we have received the verdict; we will hear from our legal team on how we can go about it. We will also call our supporters on how best we can move forward so that we do not compromise the status of the club, which we have managed to build,” he said.
