ZESCO Ndola Girls have defended the ZPL Women’s Super League title after dismantling Luyando Foundation Girls 7-0 in a rescheduled Week 31 fixture.
The emphatic victory moved the Ndola Girls to 85 points, a tally that can no longer be matched by any other team with only a few games remaining in the season.
ZESCO Ndola Girls showed their dominance from the opening stages of the match, with Avell Chitundu opening the scoring in the 20th minute before Mercy Chipasula doubled the advantage nine minutes later.
Chitundu grabbed her second goal of the afternoon in the 31st minute as the champions tightened their grip on the contest, while Chipasula also completed her brace two minutes before halftime to send ZESCO into the break with a commanding 4-0 lead.

The second half continued in the same fashion as Fridah Kabwe added the fifth goal in the 60th minute before Enelesi Phiri joined the scoresheet six minutes later. Kabwe later completed her brace in the 69th minute to seal a ruthless 7-0 triumph for the Ndola-based side.
The result capped off another outstanding campaign for ZESCO Ndola Girls, who have been the standout team throughout the season and deservedly retained the league crown.
The team will once again represent Zambia at the COSAFA Club Champions League, which also serves as the qualifier for the CAF Champions League.
Last season, they reached the final but unfortunately suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat on penalties to Gaborone United, missing out on both the COSAFA title and a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
