Since joining Kaizer Chiefs from Zambian team Nchanga Rangers, Christian Saile, a striker from the Congo, has struggled to reach the back of the net.

The 22-year-old striker helped Nchanga Rangers achieve promotion to the Super League and had a fantastic season in 2021–2022, scoring 19 goals.

He scored eight goals for the Chingola-based team in the 2022–23 season before joining Amakhosi earlier this year.

Saile, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Chiefs in January 2023 after leaving National Division One team Nchanga Rangers, appears to be having difficulty adjusting to life in the PSL.

Saile (centre) captained Nchanga Rangers before joining Chiefs.

However, Saile admits being under pressure in front of goal, but also believes the team has not done enough to score goals.

“It’s normal to feel under pressure not only the strikers, but the whole team if we are not scoring goals because we are creating the opportunities but each and every game, we try our best to score goals and gain confidence and hopefully we continue working hard each and every game to score more goals,”

Saile remains optimistic at Amakhosi.

The former Nchanga Rangers striker has featured in 14 matches this season and scored only 3 goals but remains optimistic.

“The PSL is a bit more difficult I just need a bit more time to adapt. It has been a good season… I am enjoying being here and I hope in this game we can go out and work hard and win and end the year on a high and the season at least second or third,”

Chiefs will try to maintain their current winning streak when they take on a struggling Richards Bay team on Saturday.

With 20 points from 14 games—six wins, two ties, and six losses—Amakhosi is in sixth place. During that time, the team has only managed to score 14 goals and let up 11 goals.
