In the Zimbabwean Premier League Week 22 encounter at Baobab Stadium, Ian Bakala’s CAP United Football Club five-match winning streak ended on Wednesday afternoon as McDonald Makuwe’s strike for Ngezi Platinum Stars gave Harare giants a 1-0 defeat.

Makepekepe had gone on a five-match unbeaten run, easing their relegation to the season.

Heading to this weekend’s Harare derby against rivals Highlanders, Bakala’s side find themselves in 10th place with 25 points from 22 games, four above the relegation zone.

Speaking after the match, Bakala rued the missed chances in a match in which they had the upper hand for most parts.

“Well, today’s game, I think we didn’t come to the party. We could have won this game from the first minute. Looking at the game, I think we had more chances than our opponents,” Bakala said.

The Zambian gaffer was quick to point out that the team’s focus will now shift to the big one on Sunday against their town rivals, Highlanders.

“We got under pressure in the second half after we conceded. It wasn’t in our plans. I thought we have worked on those problems. It happened, but we just have to focus on the next game.”

Meanwhile, Zambian defender Chitoshi Chinga played 90 minutes for the CAPS United.
