The Malawian Super League’s second round saw FCB Nyasa Big Bullets achieve thrilling outcomes while staying competitive with league leaders Mighty Wanderers.
With a 2-0 victory over Chitipa United on Saturday, Bullets ended the hosts’ home winning streak.
Mafco FC lost to Mighty Wanderers 1-0 on Sunday, with Blessings Mwalilino scoring the only goal for the Blantyre-based team.
In other news, the Silver Strikers, the league’s reigning champions, defeated the Mighty Tigers 1-0 to earn all the points.
Wanderers’ head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, is confident his team will continue to produce strong results in the second round.
“We will be playing each game as it comes; we know it will not be easy, but we will go back and keep working on our mistakes so that we keep fighting and perhaps win the league,” he said.
The Wanderers’ president, Thomson Mpinganjira, declared last week that the team’s goal for the season is to win every trophy.
“Our coaches have the task of winning the league, the FDH Bank Cup, and the Castel Challenge Cup“
Wanderers tops the league with 38 points, followed by Bullets on 37, while Silver Strikers is third with 33 points.
Songwe United, Mzuzu City Hammers, and Mighty Tigers are still in danger of being demoted.
