Despite reports that he would leave the South Africa national team, Hugo Broos has decided to continue with Bafana Bafana.
After playing to a scoreless draw in regulation time, South Africa defeated DR Congo 6-5 on penalties to win bronze for the first time in 24 years.
According to sources, Broos has had offers from Tunisia and Algeria, who fired their coaches after their teams were eliminated from the tournament, after helping South Africa to finish third and take-home bronze at the 2023 Afcon tournament.
The 71-year-old Coach did, however, affirm to the media that he is not going anywhere at this time.
“I can tell you today, there is nothing, really nothing. You told me there are some people who are coming to me and said ‘Hey coach, this and that? If Hugo Broos is leaving South Africa, then it will be because the Federation decided, that’s all”.
“Am happy with my job, I’m happy with the team, I’m not always happy with the media but okay, I take it with. We will see now-I hope that people will be more and more behind the team because they deserve it.”
“Well, it’s normal when you have results as a Coach or where you play a very good tournament like for example when you play like then there’s interest from other teams,” he said.
In the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon was led by the Belgian manager to victory.
