Lesotho National Team head coach Veselin Jelusic says he is not concerned with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Malawi in an international friendly match.

The two sides also played another match on Sunday behind closed doors that ended 1-0 in favor of Lesotho.

Jelusic stated that the results did not matter but the preparations of the team for next month’s back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Zambia.

“For us, the result was not the most important in this game. The most important is preparation for the AFCON qualifier against Zambia that we will play in one month’s time,” Jesulic.

The former City of Lusaka gaffer revealed that he is aware of Zambia’s quality and is anticipating a tough encounter.

“We are very aware about the quality of the Zambia National team. They have more professional players,” he stated.

“It will be a very difficult game for us but we have the right to fight until the end of the match for a better result.”

Jelusic is confident that Malawi gave his side the much-needed preparations to take on Zambia. He added that they played to their strength, similar to what he is expecting against the Chipolopolo.

“Yes, Malawi especially in the first half had initiative in the first, they had more pressure on our goals, created more chances, it is something that we expect in the match against Zambia,” he stated.

Jelusic used completely two different squads for the two matches that were played between the two sides.

Lesotho will face the Chipolopolo Boys on the 20th of March 2023 at the Levy Mwanawansa stadium in Ndola.

Zambia is sitting second in Group H with 3 points behind Ivory Coast, who top the group with 4 points. Comoros is in third place with 3 points, while Lesotho is at the bottom with just a point.
