Despite being out of action since August 2023 due to an injury, Scottish-born defender Frankie Musonda says he is ready to play for Zambia.
Musonda joined camp on Thursday afternoon to complete the 27-member squad summoned by Avram Grant for the Afcon tournament set to begin on 13th January 2024.
The 26-year-old defender suffered an injury last year August and missed the back-to-back 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville and Niger respectively.
Musonda told the media upon arrival in Saudi Arabia that he was happy to be back with the team and promised to fight for the country till the end.
“Really excited it was unfortunate to get injured just before October and I missed out. I have been back for six-seven weeks now and I feel good to be back with the team.
“We have tough opponents that’s why everyone managed to qualify to this stage everyone is a good team, everyone knows what they are doing. Each game will be tough, but I think each game we can win I just have to concentrate, “he said.
“We will all be working hard and concentrate on the results to come am sure we will see your support from home and social media, and we hope we make you proud,” Musonda said.
Chipolopolo boys to face Indomitable Lions.
Zambia has set its camp in Taif, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the 2023 Afcon competition in Ivory Coast.
Before traveling to San Pedro for the competition, the Chipolopolo boys will play a friendly match against Cameroon in Jeddah on January 9.

Group F’s matches for Zambia are as follows: on January 17, they take on the Democratic Republic of the Congo; four days later, they play Tanzania; and on January 24, they conclude group against Morocco.
