WAFCON: Stadiums To Host Copper Queens Matches

On July 5, Nora Hauptle's Copper Queens will play the Atlas Lionesses in the first game of their WAFCON campaign.

Here is a guide to the stadiums Zambia will use for the 15th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which begins in 13 days.

The Copper Queens, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and host Morocco are all in Group A. On July 5, Nora Hauptle’s ladies will play the Atlas Lionesses in the first game of their campaign. Six locations across five cities will host the WAFCON for the first time in its existence.

Zambia’s Group A matches will be held at the following two locations: The first game between Zambia and the host will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The recently built stadium located south of the stadium, which can accommodate 21,000 spectators will host the opening ceremony. The stadium will also host six major games, including the final.

Following the first game, the Copper Queens will go to Mohammedia, which is outside of Casablanca, where they will play Senegal and DR Congo at the El Bachir Stadium.

The 15,000-seat stadium recently hosted the final of the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations between Morocco and Mali. It will also host two of the Copper Queens matches.

Other stadiums include the Larbi Zaouli Stadium (30,000), Père-Jégo Stadium (10,000), Oujda Sports Complex (19,800) and Berkane Municipal Stadium (15,000).
