The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has officially confirmed the 21 teams that will compete in the highly anticipated 2025 ABSA Cup. This year’s tournament promises an exciting mix of top-tier football talent from across the country, with clubs from the MTN Super League, the ZPL National League, and the Provincial Division One all vying for glory.
The 2025 ABSA Cup will feature a total of seven teams from the MTN Super League, four from the ZPL National League, and 10 from the Provincial Division One.
MTN Super League Teams:
- Zesco United (Ndola)
- Kabwe Warriors (Kabwe)
- Nkana (Kitwe)
- Power Dynamos (Kitwe)
- Red Arrows (Lusaka)
- Green Eagles (Choma)
- Green Buffaloes (Lusaka)
ZPL National League Teams
- Konkola Blades (Chililabombwe)
- Kansanshi Dynamos (Solwezi)
- Prison Leopards (Kabwe)
- Mpulungu Harbour (Mpulungu)
Provincial Division One Teams:
- Copperbelt – Roan United (Luanshya)
- Central – Air Power (Kabwe)
- Eastern – Young Nkwazi (Petauke)
- Luapula – Matkat United (Mansa)
- Lusaka – Makeni All Stars (Lusaka)
- Muchinga – Muchinga Blue Eagles (Chinsali)
- Northern – Teta FC (Kasama)
- Northwestern – Solwezi Academy (Solwezi)
- Southern – Bart’s FC (Choma)
- Western – Nangweshi Pirates (Senanga)
The Absa Cup draws are set to take place later this week, with the full fixture list, venues, and match dates to be revealed in the coming days.
Last year, the 2024 ABSA Cup had an increased sponsorship of K5.5 million from K4.4 million, with the winner pocketing a sum of K800,000 from K700,000, while the runners-up will take K350,000.
Other prizes include Best Player of the Tournament (K25,000), Golden Glove Winner (K25,000), and Player of the Match (K15,000).
All participating teams also received a travel grant of K30,000 for teams travelling from out of town, while teams playing in their hometown received K15,000 each.
