Zambia’s ABSA Cup expanded to 21 teams, sponsorship increased to K5.5 million

Zambia's only club competition has been expanded from eight to twenty-one teams, with sponsorship increased to K5.5 million.

The 2024 ABSA Cup will feature 21 teams from the eight teams, including Provincial League clubs, with an increased sponsorship of K5.5 million from K4.4 million.

The new format will have seven clubs from the Super League, four from the National League, and the ten provincial champions.

This year’s winners will pocket a sum of K800,000 from K700,000, while the runners-up will take K350,000.

Other prizes include Best Player of the Tournament (K25,000), Golden Glove Winner (K25,000), and Player of the Match (K15,000).

Participating teams will receive a travel grant of K30,000 for teams travelling from out of town while teams playing in their hometown will receive K15,000 each.

Zamtel will sponsor the player of the match awards, with each player receiving K5,000 in the preliminary rounds.
