Forest Rangers FC captain Cedric Djeugoue has declared that his team will win the 2023 ABSA Cup final tomorrow.

Fole Malembe, who are appearing in the final for the first time in the competition’s history, will lock horns with fellow debutants FC Muza at the Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka tomorrow for the K700,000 cash prize.

During the pre-match press conference on Friday, Djeugoue stated that his team is going into the final with one goal in mind: to win the trophy.

“We are not scared of MUZA; we know they are a good team, but we are not scared of them because me and my teammates know what is going to happen tomorrow. We will win the game,” Djeugoue confidently said.

When asked to predict the scores, the Cameroonian responded, “Two goals to nil if you want to know.”

Djeugoue went on to explain to BolaNews why he believes his team will win by two goals to nil against a team they failed to defeat in the league.

“We played MUZA in the league; they beat us because of a penalty, which we did not agree with,” he said. “And in the second match, it was because of a small mistake, but they never dominated us. That is the confidence I have because we learned so much in those two games we played.”

Meanwhile, FC MUZA captain Kelvin Mwanza also told BolaNews that if Forest scores two goals, his team will win by a score of four to two.

“If they score two goals, then it will end 4-2 because we won’t score less than two goals,” Mwanza fired back.

He also said his team is looking to win the ABSA Cup for the people of Southern Province and Mazabuka in particular, who have never had a team representing them like they are doing.

“[Winning the ABSA Cup] will mean a lot to me, the team, and of course the people of Southern Province. We are not doing it for us, but for the people Mazabuka because no team from Southern Province has ever won it.”

The 2023 ABSA Cup will crown a new champion tomorrow at the Woodlands stadium in Lusaka, with President Hakainde Hichilema set to attend.
