Red Arrows were crowned champions of the 2026 ABSA Cup after beating Power Dynamos 2-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Goals from Albert Kangwanda and Lazarus Chishimba in either half were enough to hand the Airmen their third ABSA Cup trophy and second in the last three editions, having won it in 2024 before losing to Zesco United in the 2025 final.
Arrows have now become the second-highest winners of the ABSA Cup following Sunday’s victory.
Speaking after the game, Chisi Mbewe, who is now a two-time ABSA Cup winner, expressed his delight.
“We are very happy with the way we performed. The team played the way we had planned.
“We really wanted this trophy. We lost the league, so we are very happy to win the ABSA Cup.
“This was the only hope we had to walk away with a trophy this season.”
Meanwhile, Oswald Mutapa admitted that his players did not perform at their best level and said Arrows wanted it more.
“Arrows came and they wanted it more. We just didn’t come to the party, and I don’t think the players were overconfident because they were able to show that they wanted to play,” Mutapa said when asked if his players were overconfident heading into the ABSA Cup final as league champions-elect.
Red Arrows will pocket a whopping K1.1 million for winning the ABSA Cup.
Striker Albert Kangwanda finished as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals and was also voted Player of the Tournament.
His teammate, Charles Kalumba, was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
