Red Arrows may have missed out on the league title, but strikers coach James Chamanga says lifting the ABSA Cup has helped ease the disappointment.
On Sunday, Arrows beat Power Dynamos 2-0 in the final at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with goals from Albert Kangwanda and Lazarus Chishimba.
Kangwanda struck in the 45th minute before Chishimba sealed the victory in the 53rd minute to hand Arrows the cup.
Chamanga told the club media after the match that the triumph makes up for losing out on the league title.
“We have been consistent; we have been here we thank the thanks this is for the fans, we did not win the league but we got this one, this is huge for us.
“This one is for the fans…we did not win the league, but at least we have given them something,” Chamanga said.
True to his words, Arrows were consistent throughout the cup campaign. They began the competition with a 3-0 win over Zambezi Portland in the round of 16.
They then beat Play It Forward 4-1 in the quarterfinal before a measured 2-0 victory over Chirundu United in the semifinal to book a place in the final.
